Your attention please:

VISUAL ICON DIRECTORY

Nov. 1st, 2009

Icons: Rino Romano (81)

Here's an obscure one for you. Mostly does voice work, but these are all from his memorable turn on Due South playing pathological liar Ian Macdonald. (He was 26 at the time, if that helps you in PBing, because I'm old and 1995 was a long, long time ago.) Aside from his comic timing, which unfortunately cannot be captured via Photoshop, he has a lot of fantastic expressions. From some angles it is possible that he's Jensen Ackles's Italian younger brother.

Your father never shut up, did he? )

Oct. 18th, 2009

Icons: Guy Pearce (113)

Guy Pearce, mostly from Memento, in which his hair is the true tragedy. I missed it if the movie had some explanation for it, like he did it out of grief when his wife died or whatever. Toothy McJawline here is an excellent choice if you need someone to look severe a lot.

I'm shirtless with my ear against the wall / someone's trying to hurt me, I don't know who )

Icons: Famke Janssen (38)

Continuing the Feast of Unposted Icons. These were made to fill out the Famke sets elsewhere on IJ and hollow-art, because C's Vita Frankenstein is badass.

Taffeta, darling. )

Icons: Lisa Hannigan (34)

Tonight is the Feast of Unposted Icons, stuff I made for myself or Chels but never put up. These are not huge sets, and they are not even adequate sets. But they're something.

Lisa Hannigan, she's cute.

If you walk my way and I could keep my head we could creep away in the dark or maybe not, we could shoot it down anyway. )

Nov. 20th, 2008

Icons: Paul Gross (84)

Specifically, Paul Gross on Due South, out of uniform (mostly). I was telling C he looks like he fell out of a comic book from the 1940s, or maybe a dusty family photograph, the ones that bring the weird "hey, great-grandpa was cute" moments. Which means he might be good for a wartime period game or something.

I saw the elkdog men coming down the plains towards the mountains, they had their red coats on... )

Nov. 10th, 2008

Icons: Kyle Secor (98)

I love Homicide: Life on the Street; I do not love the cheapass way it was shot, which was fugly even for the 90s. These are from Season 3, "A Model Citizen" and "Happy to Be Here", mainly because those were the ones I felt like rewatching. Were it not for the frustration inherent in trying to work with grainy Homicide caps I could icon Kyle Secor all day.

Update: 20 more from Season 5.

I'm appealing to your sense of decency. )

Icons: James Frain (27)

Hi, I'm Forney James Frain. You might remember me from such roles as Forney Thomas Cromwell in The Tudors, or Forney Forney Forney

I'm sorry. I just have very fond memories of that movie since it came out when I was in grade 12 and it was, for a couple of weeks, the only thing that the little one-screen theatre in town would show. Anyhow, uh, these are not very impressive. But they are, in fact, Forney James Frain icons.

you don't have to look very far )

Aug. 27th, 2008

Icons: Nora-Jane Noone (144 + banner)

You know what's fun? Making icons of Nora-Jane Noone's quirky-pretty face. You know what's not fun? Having to watch The Magdalene Sisters again. Once three years ago was pleeeeenty for me. You know what's just depressing? Looking for other photos and seeing what this woman has done to her hair over her career. That and her eyebrows. STOP IT, NORA.

Green grows the lily-oh, right among the bushes, oh... )

Aug. 16th, 2008

Icons: Tamsin Greig (40 + banner)

These are not the greatest and I had some trouble finding photos, unfortunately. The banner is also rather useless since she has completely different hair from in the icons, but I liked the picture so whatever.

If I was on my knees, you’d have a pretty good view of my skull, and I happen to know you’re carrying a chisel )

P.S. Don't get too excited (ha) but there are 12 new icons under Robyn Hitchcock.

Icons: Chris Leavins (137 + banner)

I'll let Chris Leavins introduce himself, since he is very succinct.
Chris has acted on lots of TV shows, but they were Canadian TV shows so you probably haven’t heard of them. He was nominated for Canada’s version of the Emmy. It’s called the Gemini, but you probably haven’t heard of that either. He’s also been published in national magazines. The magazines are well-known, but people usually throw magazines in the garbage, or forget them on the bus. Chris currently lives in Los Angeles where he performs his work at many theaters. He is creator, writer, and anchor of the weekly internet show Cute with Chris.

I first saw Traders, back in the 90s when we were still pretending to try to make original Canadian dramas. The Hanging Garden, whence these icons, is one of those infuriatingly patchy movies we make here--the performances are good, the atmosphere is rich and intriguing, but they still manage to fuck it up with heavy-handed symbolism. That said, it has a special place in my heart since it was my first "hey maybe I am not doomed for being gay" movie.

You should also watch this. I am as yet unable to determine if he's actually gay or not, but suspect he is and doesn't want the label slapped on him as an actor.

nothing is sacred, nothing is real, you know what you're made of, you know what you feel )

Aug. 11th, 2008

Icons: John Cusack (147)

So, as my dedicated fans know, my oldest character (at like what, three years?) is PB'd by Chris Marquette. Who I adore, even though he is not getting my recent memos re facial hair and why he should not have it, or why short hair makes his face look fatter and why's he gotta make my job difficult, or why can't he be in good movies. I ignore this sort of recalcitrance because he's that cute. BUT after a time jump and some regular old time passage in-game, Marquette is beginning to look a bit excessively wet behind the ears--the character started off at 17 and is now 25 and married. And okay, Marquette is compared to Cusack fairly often but in some of Cusack's early pictures it actually scared me. I didn't even use a bunch of the older pictures because the resemblance was so close that it seemed a little pointless.

Anyhow, like a lot of girls my age I have a sick crush on this man dating back to my adolescent years. Grosse Pointe Blank (whence most of these icons) remains one of my favourite movies ever. It is sad that Cusack succumbed to the Irish Fathead Curse, but we can all remember the good times.

Caps from Leave Me the White and JohnCusack.us (God love em and I am glad they exist but that site was a trial to go through, 155 pages of photos with absolutely no organisation).

They all have husbands and wives and children and houses and dogs, and, you know, they've all made themselves a part of something and they can talk about what they do. What am I gonna say? 'I killed the president of Paraguay with a fork. How've you been?' )

Aug. 9th, 2008

Icons: Jack Davenport (60+2 banners)

Not exactly a request from C, but she was going around with bordered icons, what else was I going to do? Say what you will about my icons, but what they don't have is borders. Anyhow I love Jack Davenport a lot and if you ask me there is nothing sexier than a powdered wig.

We are the dollars and cents and the pounds and pence and the mark and the yen, and yeah, we're going to crack your little souls )

Icons: Keren Ann (40+banner)

Okay, I have no idea who Keren Ann is, and I'm assuming I would hate her based on the fact that she apparently has two first names. (I am feeling unreasonable today.) Apparently she's famous and from France and stuff. The important thing is that she's very cute and you may want to icon her.

Been on my own so long I don't know left from wrong )

Aug. 8th, 2008

Icons: Cat Power/Chan Marshall (50 + 3 banners)

I have not yet iconned Chan Marshall! The slavered-over queen of gloomy indie! Well, I have now. It's quite a pleasure to icon someone who has many, many pictures online--pictures in which they are not hunched over a microphone or otherwise useless for RP. Yay.

I can hear voices in the water )

Icons: Rachel Weisz (147)

From one of my favourite movies ever, Neil LaBute's The Shape of Things. In case you like the look of Rachel but want her looking a little more scruffy and need a lot of shots of her getting high. I didn't get halfway through my caps but thought this was lots for the moment. Gretchen Mol and more Paul Rudd coming up.

I won't walk with my head bound, beyond caution where lovers walk )

Icons: Paul Rudd (71)

More Paul Rudd, still from The Shape of Things. Lots of the chubby-with-glasses section. I show this movie to a lot of different people, just because I like the reactions that the ending gets, and virtually everyone says he is looking unhealthily thin by the end of it. I don't know if that says something about Hollywood and what the people really want, or if it's just a deliberate move by LaBute to show that Rudd's character is being slowly worn down by Weisz's, but I think it's interesting, anyhow. Again, I still have tons of screencaps so there will be more--I like me some Paul.

we're so pretty, oh so pretty... )

Icons: James Nesbitt (97)

Screencaps from redkoros@LJ, all from Jekyll. Some of these are icons I made ages ago for a character, the last 40 or so are newer but they've been kicking around my hard drive and what am I waiting for. Jekyll is just shot with the most obnoxious lighting, but I did my best here.

You say, 'Don't turn your back, I am not me.' )

Jul. 4th, 2008

Icons: Hugh Grant (102)

All from Notting Hill, screencaps from Leave Me the White. I know how a lot of people feel about Hugh Grant and I don't care. He's a smart, funny actor who is much better than the movies he does, and by God he is a pretty man. That he is also a pervy asshole, uh, adds layers. The point, anyway, is icons.

I got no emotions for anybody else, you better understand I'm in love with myself, myself, my beautiful self )

Jun. 20th, 2008

Icons: Burn Gorman (140)

A larger bunch for once, thanks to Marishna's screencaps. Now you too, just like [info]themissus and I have been doing, can play the intriguing game of "what's wrong with his face?" (I kid. It's pretty obviously the mouth.) Includes a whopping 46 icons with glasses from 2x05 "Adam", because PBs with glasses are in such short supply that people will cast any and every white male with glasses as James Potter. If anyone does that with Gorman I will laugh and laugh, but do what you want.

you lie so lonely, listening to the silence of the graves )
